Warm, with strong backbone and sufficient flesh around it, sweetish yet pleasantly bitter with good acidity at the same time, vibrant, warming. Nicely rounded, lasting on the nose and the palate. Attractive in appearance, consistent with the grape variety, technology employed and maturity of the wine. Of glowing bright straw-yellow colour, open, complex, marked by fruitiness, floral overtones, a honey nuance, enhanced by a thread of noble rot. Rounded and harmonious on the palate, fruity, relatively long finish.
Serve at 12 degrees Centigrade, on its own, to accompany a casual conversation, or a less sweet fruit cake, possibly an apple strudel, cheese filled puff pastry, dry cookies, except chocolate ones.
Croatian wine producer Krauthaker has won two medals at the international Merlot competition Mondial du Merlot 2011 held in Lugano, Switzerland in November.
